  -WORD PULP is a OPEN MIC/SLAM with a HIP HOP DJ that occurs EVERY FIRST THURSDAY of the month at QUEEN of SHEBA Ethiopian Restaurant at 2308 N MacArthur in Oklahoma City.
  -March Feature Poet: Tai Allen (aka GRFX) calls himself an artist
  Spending time as a student of Abiodun of the Last Poets and Dawad Philip, famed dub poet and newspaper editor, moves an artist toward good. Learning how to craft senyrus, blank verse, free form and prose under the watchful eye of Braithwaite only helps a writer call himself a writer. Spending your first few performances as a back-up but primary writer for Brooklyn College’s famed Forensics Team only broadens your mind and skills. Living with a big time producer; while being signed to a major label… classic NYC, but that only goes so far.
  -A beautiful and inspiring combination of singing and poetry, sometimes together. And, the current touring to support the new projects. Vicelounge is producing Tai’s second chapbook (with accompanying soundtrack) and first full length poetry book, with a soundtrack. Two great reasons to see Tai live, solo or with band.

  A 23 year old spoken word artist from the Oklahoma City area. She has been performing and competing for just a little under two years. In that time she has been the OKC representative to the Women of the World national poetry slam for both 2009 and 2010, and a member of the 2009 OKC slam team that tied for 5th place at the National Poetry Slam in West Palm Beach, FL. She recently graduated from college with a degree in youth ministry, and finds extreme joy in writing redemptive stories about beautifully broken people, about her life as the daughter of two substance-addicted parents, and about a God who isn’t as uptight as his followers make him seem. She likes the color purple, red wine, and kisses on the lips. She hopes you’ll like them, too.

  A 24-year-old Oklahoma native from Ardmore, now residing in Oklahoma City where he also attends Oklahoma City University and is majoring in Music Education. Carlton Dorsey’s musical experience is nothing short of impressive. Playing all styles and all instruments—Carlton Dorsey is certainly making a name for himself in many different music genres such as: Jazz, Classical, Blues, R & B, Gospel, Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Bluegrass, Heavy-metal, Rock, Neo-Soul, Reggae and Spoken work to name a few. The only thing more impressive than the depth of Carlton Dorsey’s musical prowess and intellect is his musical performance and stage presence, which captivates and stimulates the soul, leaving audiences awe inspired and yearning for more.
