FASHiON RiOT:

“Da Streets”

Fashion in Oklahoma City is stepping up and two young ladies, Fashion Queens of Okc, Jovanna Johnson, aka Lady Swagg, and Vanessa William, aka Miss ‘Nessa, decided to show some of the latest styles in a photo shoot called Fashion Riot: “Da Streetz”, shot by GW Photography.The dance krew featured in the photo shoot is the Finesse Kiddz and the other female models are Jasmine and Kogar Lynn. There will be another shoot in November with the theme “Hollywood”, and there is a need for male and female models. The Finesse Kiddz, the dance krew featured in the Fashion Riot, they were killing it in the fresh outfits and the crazy poses, which they thought of on they own.

Fashion Queens Okc:

This picture is of Miss ‘Nessa and Lady Swagg, Fashions Queens of Okc, these ladies hosted the photo shoot. They also promote and coordinate major artist, parties and events. They have three clothing lines that are making way in the fashion industry. The lines are called “Jomion” and “ViP StrutRaw” and their male line is called “CrownRaw”. Many people look at accessories as a way to make an outfit different or more unique. It could be something big that stands out, maybe something small like earrings that can bring a whole outfit together, or even a chain that makes everything more fly. For example, some bold, green jewelry can take take a simple black dress and turn it into a stylish, chic, statement.

These are some of the latest accessories that are accenting the outfits of the fabulous:

1. The Geeky Glasses: It’s crazy to say, but the geeky glasses are one of the most popular accessories out right now. Every one is wearing them. Some people wear them with the lenses and many people take them out. It use to be that being geeky was a bad thing but now it’s what’s hot!

2. The Rope Chain: This is an accessory that was worn back in the day and has came back in full effect. This accessory goes along with the 80s look that everybody is now doing. It’s a great accessory to help you stand out and make everybody stare. Male or female can pull this great accessory off.

3. The Door Knocker Earrings: Many wear these earrings because they are so unique. They come in all shapes and sizes, and is a wonderful accessory to wear when dressing to impress.

4. The Scarf. The scarf is an accessory that is popular with male and females. They come in many colors and is a great way to make your outfit more unique. Many people like to wear them with the skinny jeans with either high top shoes or the popular shoe brand Vans. This accessory is also popular in the R&B and Hip Hop industry, from Kanye West to Lil Wayne to Keri Hilson.

Fresh kicks have become a big part of fashion. If your outfit is hot, the shoes have to be on point. Truth be told, the shoes you wear can make or break your outfit. Kicks are what’s in and that’s what everybody is wearing with the hot new style especially, the skinny jeans and the bright colors [80s baby!].

Many people wear them to play basketball or even wear them to go with a outfit for a night out. Air Forces are another shoe that’s been popular for a while and can still be seen with the great fashion trends that are coming out this year. Air Forces are a clean and classic look that need to be in every man’s closet.

The 80s are back with a vengeance:

what to look for, influences and where to pick it up.

The fashion world is not what it used to be. We are in with the old and out with the new.  The 80’s are back in a major way. Everywhere you go you see somebody wearing skinny jeans, bright color graphic shirts or maybe one of those trendy scarves.

These unique styles are what is making the fashion industry today. Oklahoma is keeping up with these fashion shifts. Another influence for this look is from a style of dance that has recently come to Oklahoma called “jerkin”, which is linked to the “geeky” look that is also popular and has takin a big role in how Oklahoma’s urban scene is dressing.

This is a style that is becoming more popular everyday in Oklahoma.The new trend is also being seen on the red carpet. Here,  The New Boyz, known for their hit single, “Your a Jerk”, rock the skinny jeans and the colorful high top shoes with bold colors.

Great stores to find this style:

1. 5- 7 -9 is a junior girl’s clothing store. It is known for being one of the best places to pick up the cutest clothes. They have everything from shoes to clothes to jewelry. (Located in Cross Roads Mall)
2. Burlington has some of the hottest male and female clothes. Many people in Oklahoma shop here to find a designer outfit for a night out.
3. Rainbow is another clothing store for females. They carry a variety of styles and sizes for everyone. It is a great place to pick up an outfit on a budget. (Located in Heritage Park Mall)
