Allen Iverson decideds on Memphis as the place to land his sneakers

As confirmed on his twitter account, Allen Iverson is in the process of signing with the low ranking Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis has been after Iverson since July. Iverson stated via twitter, “God Chose Memphis as the place that I will continue my career. I met with Mr. Heinsley, Chris Wallace and my next head coach Lionel Hollins today.” – Tweeted seven hours ago.

Iverson knows that he will be the much needed experience for the Grizzlies. Iverson went on to say, “I want to help them develop a winner.”

Owner, Michael Heisley told NBA.com: “He (Iverson) told us he was very interested in playing with the young team we’ve assembled. He thought he could help us win and he was looking forward to helping the young players, and helping them to develop. Frankly, I’m ecstatic to have him.

However, not only will Iverson be playing with a younger team, but he will also be stepping down in pay scale. It is rumored that the Grizzlies are offering Iverson a one year contract for $3.5 million. A big difference considering the “hall of famer”, as Heisley put it, earned $21 million last season with Denver and Detroit.

Despite the smaller contract and Iverson’s dislike for possibly being a bench player, he is still resolved to go to Memphis. “God Chose Memphis as the place that I will continue my career,” Iverson said.
